Winning isn't everything...
Keith and I always complain that we never win anything. We even have had a part in helping friends win things. (Like our friend Jenn, she used a pick up line Keith once told her about in a contest...her and Ron are now going to Mexico! ) But now Keith can say he has won something....kind of. The other day I got a phone call for Keith from the Call of the Tundra. (This is a contest Toyota has put on for promoting their new truck.) The guy wouldn't tell me details but insisted that it would be worth Keith's time to call him back (apparently it is against government regulation to release any information to someone other then the applicant..blah, blah, blah) So I called Keith's cell and left him a message at work that he should really phone me back when he had time. He called back a bit cranky because my message could have meant anything and what was so important. I explained who had called and told him to just call and see what it was about. About 10 minutes later, he called back so freakin excited. He won one of five- first prizes which is a chance to enter this fishing derby in Manitoba to win a new Toyota Tundra. He was ecstatic...as we all know how Keith loves fishing!! I don't think he would even care if he won the truck. (AND He even said he was taking Uncle Ernie over me cuz he is such a better fisherman!) The kind of funny thing about this is that we later learned that he actually won second prize which is a 7 day trip to Elkhorn Lodge (Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba). Which is great but when we looked into the details of winning this trip and it turns out that we are responsible for getting ourselves out to Manitoba, which is $600+ roundtrip EACH, plus any expenses/taxes this trip would incur. So much for winning something! We decided that we are not going on this trip cuz if we are going to spend that kind of money on a trip, it would be a location that we wanted to go to (like Jamaica or something). Yeah, winning isn't everything...

That's too bad! But I have to agree with you...if you're going to spend that kind of money go somewhere you want to - especially warm!
